Robinson, Owens named Players of the Week

DENTON — Senior outside hitter Rhett Robinson has been named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week, while freshman outside hitter Andrea Owens has been named Conference USA Freshman of the Week. Both awards come from their performances on October 15-16.
It's the second honor each for Robinson and Owens this season. Robinson previously awarded Offensive Player of the Week on September 20, while Owens was named Freshman of the Week on October 4.
Robinson put together one of the strongest performances of her season with a combined 45 kills in a pair of victories over UAB for her second C-USA Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season. She posted 22 in Friday's match on 34 attacks for a .559 attack percentage. The senior outside hitter from Krum, Texas then posted 23 kills on 58 attacks Saturday for a .293 attack percentage. She hit .391 overall for the weekend, and averaged 6.43 kills per set along with a total of 51.5 total points for a 7.36 points/set average across seven sets. Robinson also added seven blocks (1.00 blocks/set), two aces and 16 digs (2.29 digs/set) against the Blazers.
Owens put together one of the strongest performances of her career in a pair of victories on the road against UAB. The outside hitter from Tucson, Arizona posted 21 total kills, averaging 3.00 kills/set across seven sets. She had a .360 hitting percentage in the series and added a block, an ace, and nine digs for a 1.29 digs/set average. Owens also added 22 points in the series.
The Mean Green will be back in action on Thursday, October 21 when they host the first of two games against UTSA at the North Texas Volleyball Center.
