CONCORD, N.C. - The North Texas cross country teams competed on Saturday at the 2021 C-USA Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships at Frank Liske Park outside of Charlotte and four runners from the men's team earned All-Conference honors after leading the team to a third-place finish.
The men finished third out of 11 teams with 66 points, just 11 points off second-place Charlotte and 12 points behind winner Middle Tennessee. The women's team finished 11th out of 13 teams with 250 points, while Middle Tennessee took the women's crown, as well.
In the men's 8K race, junior Caleb Bouchard led the way for the Mean Green by finishing in fifth place in a time of 24:12.9, two seconds ahead of teammate Braden Lange, who finished sixth in 24:14.3. Both Bouchard and Lange earned first-team All-Conference honors with their results. Freshman Victor Neiva brought home second-team All-Conference honors by finishing 14th in 24:40.5, while graduate Jack Beaumont earned third-team honors by finishing 17th in 24.46.4.

"We had a lot of courageous performances today, and I'm proud of our All-Conference performances," head coach Matt Layten said. "Team scoring-wise, it was not quite the day we were looking for. We have two more weeks to get ready for the NCAA Regional meet in Waco."
