11/19/2021 11:22:00 AM | Women's Basketball
DENTON, Texas – The North Texas women's basketball team will host UT Arlington on Saturday in the Super Pit at 3:30 p.m. (CT). The Mean Green are looking to bounce back against a crosstown rival after the close road loss to highly touted Missouri State last weekend.
The Mean Green have a balanced scoring attack across the board with seven players averaging at least seven points per game. The offense is led by Jazion Jackson and Quincy Noble. Jackson has been so consistent this year, shooting 42% from the floor and 45% from behind the arc. She also has the second-most assists on the team and third in total rebounds. Noble leads the team in scoring with 14.7 per contest and is perfect from the free throw line thus far.
UT Arlington comes to Denton after a three-game homestand and an overtime victory over Houston, 69-66. The Lady Mavericks are (2-1) this season and are led by Claire Chastain, Starr Jacobs, and Terryn Milton. Senior guard, Milton averages the most minutes on the floor and leads the team in assists. Jacobs is a prolific scorer off the ball and is shooting an astounding 60% from the floor. Chastain is second in most minutes played and is second in scoring for the Lady Mavs.
It will be another good litmus test for Jalie Mitchell's squad before the Thanksgiving Classic in California. The game will broadcast on YouTube and Zac Babb will have the call on KNTU 88.7 FM.
QUOTING HEAD COACH MITCHELL
"We are looking forward to the matchup on Saturday. UT Arlington is coming off a win, while we're looking to bounce back from a loss. We learned so much about ourselves at Missouri State. Our goal is to see some much-needed improvement in those areas. I'm sure the crosstown rivalry won't disappoint. We'll see you at the Super Pit!"
