He also serves as UNT’s offensive coordinator
DENTON, Texas – North Texas football offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Mike Bloesch has been named a finalist for FootballScoop's Offensive Line Coach of the Year award, the organization announced.
Bloesch, one of five finalists for the award, mentored an offensive line unit that paved the way for Conference USA's top rushing offense (234.1 ypg), a total that ranked fifth nationally. The Mean Green offensive line allowed only 15 sacks in 13 games, the ninth fewest in the country.
Under his leadership, junior center Manase Mose and junior tackle Jacob Brammer both earned All-CUSA honors in 2021. True freshman guard Gabe Blair was named to the All-CUSA Freshman team.
A native of Spring, Texas, Bloesch recently completed his second season at UNT. He joined Seth Littrell's coaching staff as co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach for the 2020 season and was elevated to offensive coordinator and play caller for 2021.
The only coaching awards program where winners are selected by their fellow coaches, the FootballScoop Coach of the Year program celebrates its 15th season in 2021. Coaches must be nominated by a fellow coach to be eligible for the award, and each category's winner is selected by prior winners of that category.
The FootballScoop Coach of the Year program honors excellence in performance and character at every on-the-field position and key off-the-field posts in FBS, as well as coordinators at the FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA levels. Winners are honored at the AFCA Convention in January.
