3/13/2021 11:23:00 AM | Men's Basketball
FRISCO — The North Texas men's basketball team will be playing in its first conference tournament championship game in nine years on Saturday when they take on Western Kentucky at 8 p.m. CT from the Ford Center at the Star.
Saturday's 2021 Air Force Reserve C-USA Men's Basketball Championship presented by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network and the Mean Green Sports Network Learfield IMG College.
The last time UNT (16-9, 9-5) made the conference tournament finals in 2012 they were in the Sun Belt Conference. Its opponent in that title game, WKU.
The Hilltoppers (20-6, 11-3) came out victories in the 2012 SBC championship game, 74-70. Despite Saturday being the 30th all-time meeting between the two schools, it'll only be the second time they've met in a conference tournament championship game.
If the Mean Green beat WKU on Saturday they'll earn an automatic bid into the 2021 NCAA Tournament, which would be their first trip to the big dance since 2010.
