MGVB hosts Texas Tech in last home match

DENTON – The North Texas Mean Green will wrap up a three-match homestand when they host Texas Tech on Wednesday, March 17 at 5 p.m. Below is what you need to know for the match.
About the Mean Green: The Mean Green are coming off two wins over Louisiana Tech at the North Texas Volleyball Center. North Texas is now 7-3 at home this season and is riding a three-game winning streak on its home floor.
The UNT offense caught fire against the Lady Techsters over the weekend, hitting a combined .437 in the two matches. North Texas' .442 attack percentage during Monday's win is the highest hitting percentage of any team in the country during 2020-21.
Rhett Robinson leads Conference USA and ranks No. 10 in the country with 278 kills in 2020-21. In last week's wins over Louisiana Tech, Robinson tallied a .510 attack percentage and 32 kills.
Kaliegh Skopal, who needs just 43 more assists to jump into the Top 10 in program history for career assists, ranks 23rd in the country with 603 assists this season.
North Texas has been dominant at home since head coach Andrew Palileo took over in 2013. UNT has an all-time home record of 82-32 under head coach Andrew Palileo, and seven of the Mean Green's eight wins in 2020-21 have come at home.
Milestones to watch: Valerie Valerian is eight kills away from moving into fifth in program history in career digs (1,062)…Valerian also needs just 13 digs to tie Amy Henard for the sixth-most digs in program history (1,076)…Henrianna Ibarra is one dig away from 500 career digs, which would put both liberos on the roster over the 500 mark…Sarah Haeussler needs seven kills to set a single-season career-high in kills (110).

The Red Raiders are 2-1 in the spring portion of the season, splitting two matches with Houston and winning most recently over Tarleton State.
Senior outside hitter Samantha Sanders ranks 26th in the country in total kills with 243 this season and has recorded seven double-doubles. Junior setter Alex Kirby ranks 29th in total assists (575) and is coming off a season-high 52-assist performance against Tarleton State.
Series history: North Texas has not defeated Texas Tech since 1978, the Mean Green's lone win in the series. The Red Raiders lead the all-time series 21-1 and have taken 16-straight matches against the Mean Green.
