Â
LAST TIME OUT:Â UNT finished fourth at the Maryb S. Kauth Invitational in San Antonio and were led by junior Katie Finley, who tied for eighth.
Â
MOVING UP: North Texas has made significant strides since head coach Michael Akers took over roughly five years ago. The Mean Green were ranked No. 201 following the 2015-16 season, and since Akers arrived in Denton, UNT has soared more than 150 spots from that time. The Mean Green are currently ranked No. 35.
Â
AKERSÂ SAYS:Â "We are looking forward to getting back into competition this week at K-State's event in Tucson. The field is very good, and I feel strongly about scheduling the best competition we can. I think the team is hungry to play well after struggled down in San Antonio. The ladies looked good in preparation the past week. We talked about the change in grass and elevation, and another important aspect will be to stay hydrated. We are sad we will not be with our normal hosts this year. Unit 49 in the Robson community has taken very good care of my teams over the years, but due to COVID we will not see them this year. I know they will be watching and cheering for us from afar."Â
