Cox Selected C-USA Golfer Of The Week

DALLAS - The most decorated golfer in the UNT women's program history filed one more accomplishment on her ledger on Thursday when fifth-year senior Lauren Cox was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week for the third time this year and fifth in her career after a strong showing at the MountainView Collegiate last weekend.
Cox led the Mean Green to a sixth-place finish in a field that included eight top-50 teams, including the 30th-ranked Mean Green, and she finished tied for 20th with a consistent tournament of 73-73-72-218 to finish 2-over par. She was tied for fifth in the field in Par-5 scoring at 3-under and tied for third in total pars with 41 over the 54-hole tournament.
"It is great to see Lauren recognized again by C-USA," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "Due to the format (teams playing fivesomes), I watched every hole, and she could have easily been in the 60s each day, but there were some very difficult hole locations. She should have a good mindset going into The Bruzzy. Lantana is a course she has had great success on."
Cox previously won the award this year back on Oct. 1 and again on Oct. 29 to book-end the fall season.
The Mean Green are back in action on Sunday and Monday, as they host the third edition of The Bruzzy at Lantana Golf Club.
