Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker announced the hiring of Taylor Bryan as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Strategic Communications on Friday.
Bryan comes to UNT after serving the past four years as Assistant Athletic Director for Football External at Baylor. While working for the Bears, he was tasked with managing football communications and assisted in providing strategic direction and guidance for broadcasting, in-venue production, digital media, fan engagement and annual giving. As a member of the external leadership team, he served as the primary media relations contact for football and helped direct the roll out of INFLCR content and education to assist Baylor student-athletes with building their personal brands.
"Taylor is a proven leader and his experience will allow us to continue to enhance our communications strategies and effectively tell the great success stories of our student-athletes, coaches and programs," Baker said. "We are excited to welcome Taylor and his wife Claire to Denton and the Mean Green family."
Bryan earned his bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and master's degree in Sport and Fitness Management with an emphasis in Sports Administration from Troy University. After completing his degrees at Troy, he served six years in media relations at Auburn University where he worked with a number of sports (football, baseball, gymnastics, track and field, men's basketball and women's tennis).
"My wife Claire and I are incredibly excited to join the Mean Green Family," Bryan said. "We are grateful to Wren Baker and Jared Mosley for the opportunity to join the UNT leadership team in fulfilling the mission of Building Champions and Preparing Leaders. We can't wait to get to Denton and start working with the tremendous coaches, staff and student-athletes at UNT."
Bryan fills the position vacated by Eric Capper, who will now serve at Senior Associate AD for Community Engagement. In this new role, Capper will work directly with the UNT Letterwinners Association, provide oversight of the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame selection process and banquet, and provide support for creative content across UNT's 16 sports.
"Eric has been a valuable member of our Senior Leadership team during my tenure here at UNT and I'm excited about the impact he will have in this new role, strengthening our relationships in the community and specifically with our Letterwinners," Baker said. "Eric has established great rapport with our former student-athletes and is committed to developing programs to strengthen those relationships and bonds with UNT athletics."
