DENTON — On Friday North Texas men's basketball fans can purchase tickets to the Mean Green's Dec. 21 non-conference bout with Tulsa that will be played at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City as part of the 2021 Compete 4 Cause Classic.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10:00 a.m. CT.Â
Fresh off its NCAA Tournament success, UNT's neutral site matchup with the Golden Hurricane is another national spotlight game for the back-to-back defending Conference USA champs. It'll be the first time the two schools have met since 2014 and be the 53rd all-time game between them.Â
UNT is coming off a season where they captured its first Conference USA Tournament championship and earned the program's fourth-ever NCAA Tournament bid. At the 2021 NCAA March Madness Tournament, the Mean Green — seeded a program-best No. 13 — upset Purdue in the first round 78-69 (OT) to capture the program's first NCAA Tournament victory.
They ended last season ranked No.55 in the NET. It's the highest the program has ever ended a year ranked in the NET/RPI.Â
The Dec. 21 double-header event will also feature USC taking on Oklahoma State.
Compete 4 Cause Classic will be one of college basketball's top-shelf events of the 2021-22 season, featuring some of the nation's premier programs.Â
The charitable component for Compete 4 Cause Classic will be rooted in service, inspiring the student-athletes to use their talent, notoriety and influence to impact the lives of people in the local community. The [a3] Initiative, in connection with U-Sports Group and the Compete 4 Cause Classic basketball platform, will greatly impact the OKC community and be a rewarding experience for the student-athletes and universities.
