DENTON -- The back-to-back Conference USA champion North Texas men's basketball team will host Buffalo on Nov. 15 at the Super Pit.Â
This will be just the second all-time meeting between the two schools. UNT won the previous matchup 102-91 back on Dec. 11, 1999 at the Indiana Classic in Bloomington, Indiana.Â
Season ticket deposits for the Mean Green men's and women's basketball season can be made here or by contacting ticketoffice@unt.edu.Â
The Mean Green are coming off of a season where they captured their first Conference USA Tournament championship and earned the program's fourth-ever NCAA Tournament bid. At the 2021 NCAA March Madness Tournament, UNT — seeded a program-best No. 13 — upset Purdue in the first round 78-69 (OT) to capture the program's first NCAA Tournament victory. The Mean Green enter the 2021-22 season as back-to-back C-USA champs after capturing the 2020 C-USA regular season crown and finishing with a program best 14-4 league record.Â
They ended last season ranked No.55 in the NET. It's the highest the program has ever ended a year ranked in the NET/RPI.Â
While this will be the first meeting between the two schools in over 20 years, Buffalo is no stranger to the Super Pit. After a successful 2020-21 regular season, UB earned a bid into the 2021 NIT hosted by UNT at the Super Pit. Buffalo lost to top-seeded Colorado State in the first round, 75-73.
Buffalo finished second in the Mid-American Conference last season with a 12-5 league record. They reached the MAC Championship title game but fell just short in winning its fifth league tournament title since 2015 as they lost in the 2021 title game to Ohio, 84-69. UB has posted a combined 54-17 league record over the last four years.Â
