DENTON — After a 2-1 opening weekend in the North Texas Invite, North Texas volleyball looks to keep improving heading into the UTA Classic this weekend hosted by UT-Arlington. It will be the first road trip of the season for the Mean Green.
North Texas will face Sam Houston (4-0), Tulsa (0-0), and UT-Arlington (0-3) across Friday and Saturday. The Mean Green will take on Sam Houston at 4 p.m. on Friday, Tulsa at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, and UT-Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Senior outside hitter Rhett Robinson says the tournament will be a good litmus test for the pace at which later-season games will be played.
"This next tournament will prepare us for the speed that we're going to be playing against for the rest of the season, so I'm excited to see us pick it up and put everything we've been sharpening up in practice into play."
Robinson finished the North Texas Invite with a team-high 52 kills, along with a .351 hitting percentage.
Head coach Andrew Palileo says more consistency is something he's looking for in the UTA Classic.
"We're trying to be more aggressive and be more physical as well. The biggest thing is our first contact has to be more consistent."
North Texas' game Saturday against UT-Arlington will be broadcast on ESPN+. Live updates will be carried throughout the weekend on all @MeanGreenVB social channels.
