DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team, which has won nine of its last 10 games, hosts Charlotte at the Super Pit Thursday night.
The Mean Green (11-4, 4-1 C-USA) and 49ers (9-6, 2-1 C-USA) are scheduled to tip-off at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network with Dave Barnett and Hank Dickenson on the call. UNT fans can listen to the Mean Green Sports Network by downloading The Varsity App.
Thursday marks the 14th all-time meeting between Charlotte and North Texas but the first since March 4, 2020. The two teams did not play each other last season. UNT has only two active men's basketball players who have any playing experience against the 49ers: Thomas Bell and JJ Murray.
This will be the sixth time CLT and UNT have met at the Super Pit. North Texas has won three of the previous five meetings in Denton including the most recent home matchup on Feb. 13, 2020, 81-72.
North Texas heads into Thursday's game riding a three-game winning streak and coming off one of its most notable road wins in recent memory. The Mean Green beat WKU 65-60 in Bowling Green, Kentucky on Saturday. It was North Texas' first road win over the Hilltoppers since 2010 and just the third all-time road win versus Western Kentucky. Senior Thomas Bell scored a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds and four assists. North Texas, which features the nation's No. 4 scoring defense and No. 1 3-point defense, held the Hilltoppers to just two-made 3-pointers on Saturday. WKU didn't make a 3-pointer until there was 3 minutes and 10 seconds left in the game. North Texas was leading by 14 points shortly before WKU's first made 3-pointer.
"We're playing with a lot of confidence right now," said sophomore Abou Ousmane. "We are focused and locked in on each game ahead of us. One game at a time. We know we still have to get better and we know we can be better if we just focus and play as a team. Charlotte is a talented team and we're excited for the challenge."

Headed into Thursday, North Texas leads the nation in fewest 3-pointers given up per game. Opponents are only making 4.2 per game on UNT who have given up just 63 3-pointers this season.
