DENTON — The North Texas soccer team aims to grab a share of the top of the Conference USA standings Sunday as they host UAB at 1 p.m. CT.
Sunday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Mean Green (7-4-1, 3-1-0) enter the match with nine points in the league standings, just three behind the league leaders Rice and UAB. The Blazers (7-2-2, 4-0-0) are undefeated in league games riding a four-match winning streak. A win Sunday for UNT would put them in a three-way tie for first place. Rice is at Texas A&M on Sunday.
UNT also enters Sunday on a two-match winning streak. The Mean Green picked up two road shutout victories last week. They have shutout three of their four league opponents this season and have outscored their league opponents by a combined score of 8-1.
UNT fifth-year senior Olivia Klein leads the league in goals scored with eight and total points with 20. Her eight goals scored are the 15th most in the nation and her 20 total points is the eighth most in the nation.
The Mean Green are 4-0-0 all-time at home versus UAB. After Sunday's match the Mean Green don't return home to Denton until Oct. 16.
