
Volleyball Face Test Against No. 23 WKU

DENTON, Texas – North Texas volleyball will host No. 23 WKU on Friday at 6 p.m. in the final Conference USA meeting between the two programs on ESPN+.
UNT (9-11, 3-2) captured a conference sweep of LA Tech at the North Texas Volleyball Center on Sunday. Sh'Diamond Holly was honored as C-USA Defensive Player of the Week for her eight-block performance against the Lady Techsters. She also added six kills and a dig in the match. Holly is the first UNT player to win the award since Henrianna Ibarra in September 2021.
Treyaunna Rush is riding a 14-match streak with double-digit kills and has reached the mark in 17 of 20 matches this season. She is top 25 in the country with 274 kills and 307.5 points. Libero Aleeyah Galdeira leads C-USA with 336 digs and is No. 27 in the NCAA. Sophomore Aryn Johnson has recorded double-digit point totals in six of the last seven matches, topping out with 20-point performances against Montana St. and Rice.
Western Kentucky (17-2, 5-0) enters the match on a six-match winning streak, including five consecutive conference sweeps. The Hilltoppers are headlined by three-time All-American Lauren Matthews and All-Region selection Paige Briggs. Freshmen Callie Bauer and Abby Schaefer lead the team in assists and digs, respectively.
The Mean Green are 3-22 all-time against WKU, tallying wins in two of its previous five meetings.
