Perry Voted Preseason All-Conference

DALLAS — Reigning Conference USA men's basketball First Team All-Conference North Texas guard Tylor Perry was voted to the league's 10-man 2022 Preseason All-Conference list, announced by C-USA on Thursday and voted by the league's head coaches.
The fourth-year senior guard helped lead UNT to another Conference USA title a season ago as he averaged a team-high 13.5 points per game. He made a team-high 72 3-pointers while shooting over 42 percent from deep. The Fort Coffee, Oklahoma, native made five game-winning or game-tying shots throughout the season last year, including at UAB and twice against Louisiana Tech.
Perry, who came off the bench a year ago in 30 of the Mean Green's 31 games, was named the 2022 C-USA Sixth-Man of the Year. He finished the season ranked second among reserves in points, 3-pointers and free throws.
He played his best when the stage was big.
He scored 23 on just 16 shots versus eventual national champion Kansas. He had another 23 at Wichita State later in the year on only 10 shots. He scored a season-high 25 points — on 14 shots — at UAB and made the game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds to give the Mean Green the crucial 58-57 victory.
Last season North Texas won a program-record 25 games and a program-record 16 league games. They had the nation's No. 1 scoring defense, holding opponents to a league record 55.7 points per game. UNT went on a program-record 15-game winning streak — all against league opponents — and was the last team in the nation to be undefeated on the road as they won its first nine road games.
North Texas has had at least one student-athlete named to the league's preseason all-conference list in now three straight seasons.
