Volleyball Set for Pair of C-USA Home Contests

DENTON, Texas – North Texas volleyball will host a pair of home matches against UTEP on Friday at 6 p.m. and versus UTSA on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the North Texas Volleyball Center. Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Mean Green (10-13, 4-4) are looking to rebound after a 3-2 loss at LA Tech on Sunday. Aryn Johnson set a new career-high mark of 26 kills and 52 attacks against the Lady Techsters, adding 11 digs, two blocks and two assists. She leads the team with 122 kills on 310 attacks in C-USA play. In this span, she has 53 digs, 17 blocks and seven aces.
Sh'Diamond Holly tops the conference with 110 total blocks and an average of 1.26 per set for the season. Aleeyah Galdeira is currently in fifth place on the UNT career digs list with 1,235 digs and needs 48 to pass Corina Marginas for fourth. The senior libero leads C-USA with a personal-best mark of 397 digs for the year. She needs 19 to move into the top 10 in program history for a single season.
UTEP (13-9, 7-2) arrives in Denton after collecting consecutive conference sweeps of UTSA in El Paso on Friday and at Charlotte on Sunday. The Mean Green are 12-12 all-time versus the Miners with a 9-5 record since joining C-USA in 2013.
UTSA (7-14, 2-7) will play No. 21 Rice on Friday before traveling north for Sunday's meeting. The Roadrunners enter the weekend on a five-match losing streak, including a 3-2 UNT victory on Oct. 16 in San Antonio. Historically, North Texas has a 15-21 record versus UTSA with a 5-1 home record since joining C-USA in 2013.
