Galdeira Collects C-USA Defensive Player of the Week Award

DALLAS – North Texas libero Aleeyah Galdeira was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Galdeira recorded a conference-high mark of 42 digs over nine sets for the week, finishing second with an average of 4.67 digs per set. She contributed 10 assists and three aces in a pair of C-USA victories over UTEP and UTSA.
The senior leads C-USA with 397 digs for the season and is currently 32nd in the nation, averaging 4.56 per set. Galdeira is currently fifth in program history with 1,277 career digs and tied for ninth for her single-season tally. She joins teammate Sh'Diamond Holly as the second UNT honoree for the award this season.
North Texas is set to visit No. 21 Rice on Friday at 6 p.m. before returning home on Sunday against Middle Tennessee at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
