
Women’s Basketball Begins Seven-Game Road Stretch Tuesday at UTA

Mean Green prepped to play third game in six days
DENTON, Texas (Nov. 28, 2022) – Coming off a strong home win over Montana State to close out the UNT Fall Feast, North Texas returns to the court for its third game in six days as they travel to Arlington, Texas to take on UTA.
It is the 50th all-time meeting between UNT and UTA. The Lady Mavs won a thrilling 75-74 contest in overtime in Denton last season.
The matchup with UTA kicks off a stretch of seven consecutive road games for the Mean Green as UNT will be looking to win back-to-back games for the first time this season.
UTA comes into the matchup 2-4 overall as they opened the season with two straight wins but have lost four straight dating back to a Nov. 16 against Kansas.

Matching up with the Lady Mavs
- After defeating Texas A&M-Commerce and TWU to open the season, UTA has dropped four straight games coming into the contest against UNT.
- The Lady Mavs went 20-8 in the 2021-22 season and won the Sun Belt Conference Tournament to clinch a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2007.
- UTA is led offensively by Starr Jacobs who is averaging 15.7 points per game while also pulling down 4.5 boards per contest. Jacobs has scored in double figures in five of the Lady Mavs' six games.
- Jireh Washington and Kayla White are also averaging double figures for UTA at 14.3 and 12.8 points per game, respectively. Washington is ranked 18th in DI with 6.2 assists per game.
- The Lady Mavs are one of the strongest teams in the country at forcing turnovers as they rank 23rd in DI with 12.5 steals per contest.
- The Mean Green have been led thus far this season by senior Quincy Noble who is averaging 18.6 points per game, the best mark in C-USA. Noble needs just 118 points shy the become the 15th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points at UNT.
- Junior Tommisha Lampkin has been strong for UNT as well this season, with a pair of double-doubles in six games. Lampkin leads C-USA and ranks 45th in the country with 1.8 blocks per game.
- UNT has been one of the top teams in the country at defending the 3-point line thus far this season. Through five games, the Mean Green are holding opponents to just 19.0 percent from beyond the arc, a mark that ranks sixth in all of Division I.
- For the second straight year, Noble earned a spot on the Preseason All-Conference team. One year after being named the Co-Preseason Player of the Year in 2020-21, Noble again found herself being honored by C-USA after being selected as a Second Team All C-USA honoree a season ago.
- Coming off back-to-back close losses, UNT bounced back in a big way as they scored eight of the final 11 points of the game to take down Montana St. 66-57.
- Noble scored in double figures for the fourth straight game and finished with a game-high 16 points to earn All-Tournament team.
- UNT also got a strong performance from Lampkin who had 10 points and 11 boards for her second double-double of the season.
- Along with Lampkin and Noble, Boles also finished in double figures with 11 points while also adding four rebounds in the win.
- As a team, UNT outrebounded MSU 40-28 and pulled down 17 offensive rebounds. They also forced the Bobcats, who came into the contest ranked inside the top-75 in the country in 3-point FG percentage, to shoot just 14.3 percent from downtown.
