Freshman Ereauna Hardaway finishes with career-high 12 points
ARLINGTON, Texas (Nov. 29, 2022) – Junior Tommisha Lampkin registered her second consecutive double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, but the North Texas women's basketball team was unable to overcome an early deficit against UT-Arlington Tuesday night as they fell 76-58 inside the College Park Center.
Lampkin now has three double-doubles this season and pulled down four offensive rebounds in the contest as UNT falls to 2-4 overall this season.
Senior Quincy Noble and freshman Ereauna Hardaway both scored in double figures as well for UNT as Noble finished with 13 points and Hardaway set a new career-high with 12.
UTA jumped ahead early, starting the game on a 13-3 run and didn't look back from there as they never trailed in the contest.
Junior Maddie Cleary was able to help the Mean Green cut the deficit down to eight to close the first quarter, scoring five straight points to end the period.
After Jasmyne Boles hit a layup to open the second, the Lady Mavs extended the lead as they scored 19 of the next 23 points to push the lead from six to 23 with just over one minute left in the half.
Coming out of the locker room, UNT was able to climb back into the game with a strong third quarter.
After opening the period on a quick 6-0 run, the Mean Green went on an 11-2 run fueled by seven points from Noble.
UTA still held a double-digit lead, however, on top 56-43 heading into the final quarter.
In the third quarter, North Texas outscored the Lady Mavs 19-11 as Noble scored nine, Lampkin added seven and Cleary chipped in three in the period.
With the score 64-49 in the fourth, UTA put the contest out of reach with a quick 6-0 run and was able to close the game with an 18-point victory.
Quoting Coach Mitchell
"I thought the game got away from us early with some turnovers against their press and they got some easy transition buckets off those turnovers to extend the lead. It just took us too long to try and figure it out. I did think coming out of the locker room we made a good run with that first five we ran out in the second half giving us a shot to win. But UTA did a good job making some plays down the stretch and we didn't make enough shots to close the gap even more."
