Volleyball to Host UAB on Senior Night

DENTON, Texas – UNT will wrap up its home schedule with a showdown versus UAB on Thursday at 6 p.m. with live coverage on ESPN+. Seniors Aleeyah Galdeira, Taylor Litteken, Avery McCrillis and Funmi Oladapo will be honored in a post-match ceremony.
The Mean Green (13-14, 7-5) clinched its place in the Conference USA Championship with a 3-0 win over Middle Tennessee on Sunday. The victory marked the fourth sweep of the conference slate and eighth of the season, the most three-set wins since 2019. Treyaunna Rush led the team with 19 kills and four blocks for 21.5 points, her highest output against C-USA opponents.
A pair of North Texas players will be chasing history on Thursday night. Senior libero Galdeira is currently in eighth place on the UNT single season digs list with a tally of 457, needing five to move into seventh place. Sh'Diamond Holly currently sits sixth in program history for her single-season mark of 131 total blocks and needs five to eclipse fifth place.
UAB (12-12, 7-5) enter the match after a four-set victory over UTSA on Friday. Senior Fernanda Maida leads the team with 329 kills and 1,002 attacks with outside hitter Alex Kells trailing with 297 kills on 881 attacks. Erin Powers anchors the defense with 439 digs over 93 sets played, adding 37 service aces.
UNT lead the all-time series 8-4 versus the Blazers, including a pair of wins in Birmingham last season. The Mean Green are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings, dating back to 2014.
