Senior from Ennis, Texas, becomes first UNT defensive All-American since 2002
DENTON – Coming off one of the best seasons in program history, UNT senior LB KD Davis added another award to his already impressive trophy list as he was named a Fourth Team All-American by Phil Steele, the publication announced Thursday.
Davis becomes the first UNT player since Brandon Kennedy in 2002 and just the second linebacker in program history (Byron Gross, 1990) to earn All-America honors. He is also the first Mean Green player since Jaelon Darden (2020) to be named an All-American.
A senior from Ennis, Texas, Davis now owns the program record with 421 tackles in his career and leads C-USA with 132 tackles this season, just 11 shy of the single-season program record held by Trent Touchstone in 1989.
Along with 14 other teammates, Davis also earned All-CUSA honors from Phil Steele. He was joined on the First Team by OL Gabe Blair and KR Kaylon Horton.
Second Team All-CUSA selections included OL Manase Mose, LB Mazin Richards, CB DeShawn Gaddie and K Ethan Mooney.
The Mean Green had four players on the third and fourth teams as well with QB Austin Aune, TE Jake Roberts, OL Febechi Nwaiwu and CB Ridge Texada landed on the Third Team while RB Ikaika Ragsdale, TE Var'Keyes Gumms, DE Tom Trieb and LB Larry Nixon III were all selected as Fourth Team honorees.
