Mean Green outscored 50-25 after the first quarter
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Dec. 21, 2022) – North Texas came out of the gates hot and led by as many as seven points in the first quarter but was unable to keep the momentum as they fell 69-44 Wednesday against Georgetown in the final non-conference regular season contest of the season.
The Mean Green were led by Jaaucklyn Moore who finished with 14 points to go along with three boards and a pair of steals as they dropped to 3-7 overall this season.
UNT started things off hot, scoring seven of the first 10 points of the contest to take an early four-point lead.
With the score 13-12 in the first, the Mean Green swelled the lead to seven, their largest of the contest, with six quick points capped by an and-one from Jaaucklyn Moore to take a 19-12 lead.
Georgetown answered right back, however, as they closed the first and opened the second with a 9-0 run to take their first lead of the game at 21-19.
After Tommisha Lampkin hit a layup to knot things up at 21, the Hoyas created some separation with a 13-2 run over the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 34-23 lead heading into the break.
The rally for the Hoyas continued into the second half as Georgetown scored nine of the first 11 points of the third to push the lead to 18. In total, the Hoyas outscored UNT 22-4 the lose the first half and open the second.
Quincy Noble was able to knock down a pair of free throws and Moore hit a basket at the end of the third to make the score 55-36 heading into the final period.
In the fourth, Georgetown was able to extend their lead again by scoring the first eight points to take a 27-point lead, its largest of the game, and grab the win by 25.
Moore was joined in double figures by Noble who produced 12 points, five of which came from the free throw line, while also getting eight more from Ereauna Hardaway. Sophomore Grace Abercrombie made her UNT debut in the contest as well.

The Mean Green will kick off C-USA play Thursday, Dec. 29 in Boca Raton, Fla., when they take on Florida Atlantic at 6:00 p.m. CT.
