Davis Named C-USA Defensive Player of the Year

DALLAS - UNT senior linebacker KD Davis has been named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year, the league announced on Wednesday.
The honor follows Davis being named to the All-Conference USA First Team for the second straight season on Tuesday. Davis is the first conference defensive player of the year for UNT since Chris Hurd completed a three-year run of UNT players winning the Sun Belt award in 2003.
With one game left in his Mean Green career, Davis has already established himself as one of the most decorated players in program history after becoming the all-time tackles leader in last week's C-USA Championship Game. His 132 tackles is tops on the team by nearly 40 stops and he's the first player in program history to lead the team in tackles for four straight seasons. He also has three tackles for-loss, a sack, an interception and a forced fumble to go with four quarterback hurries.
The preseason All-American and two-time first-team all-conference selection ranks sixth in total tackles (132) and 10th in total tackles per game (10.2) in FBS.
