Track & Field: Samaniego Topples School Record Once Again

Samaniego recorded a weight throw of 62-2.25 (18.95) to make more history
DENTON, Texas – Chris Samaniego broke his own school record in the weight throw for the third-consecutive meet to lead North Texas track & field Friday on day one of the Texas Tech Shootout in Lubbock, Texas.

On his fifth throw of the meet, Samaniego heaved it 62-2.25 (18.95) to raise his school record for the third meet in a row. The senior from Monahans, Texas, placed fifth in the competition.

In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Monica Johnson qualified for the first round with a time of 8.89 in the qualifying round. The senior from Cincinnati, Ohio, did not advance to the final.

Indoor personal bests for the Mean Green included Sam Konen in the women's 800 meters (2:33.27) and Glenquioa Hardy in the women's long jump (18-1 ¾, 5.53).

Action from the Sports Performance Center will continue Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. CT with the women's shot put. Live results will be provided by Prime Time Timing. The meet will be streamed live on ESPN+.
