Women's Hoops Picks Up its Sixth Straight Win

DENTON, Texas – North Texas women's basketball (14-10, 8-6) made program history on Saturday against UAB (13-11, 6-7) winning its sixth straight Conference USA game, 67-60. Aly Gamez and Jazion Jackson had a combined 33 points.
The Mean Green extended its league-best win streak and notched its longest stretch of victories since joining C-USA in 2013.
Defense has been the deciding factor in this February push. North Texas has held their last five C-USA opponents to 60 points or less. Gamez shot 75-percent from downtown to push the Mean Green past UAB for the fourth consecutive time. UNT held the Blazers to just 23-percent from 3-point range on 13 attempts. Madison Townley pulled down a team-best 12 rebounds.
UNT will hit the road for the final time in the regular season next week when they travel to Southern Miss (Feb. 24) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 26).

"Great win for us. I'm proud of our team for hanging in there and handling the runs UAB went on. I thought they did a good job of getting buckets in the fourth quarter, but we buckled down and prevailed. A lot of credit to Aly and Jaz, they did a tremendous job putting the game away and picking up our offense when we needed it most. They were 'on' in every sense of the word."
