DALLAS - North Texas junior Emilie Ricaud was the team's standout performer earlier this week at the ICON Invitational - a loaded field that featured 10 teams ranked in the nation's top 50 - and for her performance was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
The honor is the second of Ricaud's career, as the first came in 2020 after the same tournament her freshman season.
Ricaud finished 22nd on the leaderboard, ahead of five nationally ranked top-100 players, including two in the top 10, and was one shot back of four more ranked players. She finished the event at 1-under par after her consistent card of 72-73-70 and was tied for fifth in the field in total pars with 38.
"It is a great feeling to see Emilie be honored by C-USA today," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "I feel Emilie is certainly one of the most talented players on our team. Her golf swing is poetry in motion. I feel that she has been working harder over the past year. It certainly has been a positive thing for her to be living with Audrey (Tan) and Patty (Sinolungan). Emilie stayed in Denton over the holidays and played and practiced a lot. She should be very confident now and know she can play at a high level for three rounds in a row."
The award is the second consecutive for the program, as Sinolungan won the award last week after the Mean Green won the Tulane Classic and Sinolungan won the individual title on Feb. 15.
The Mean Green will return to action March 7-8 at the UNF Intercollegiate in Jacksonville, Florida.
Fans can follow the program on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and check MeanGreenSports.com for recaps of each day's action.
