Mean Green End Regular Season With Road Trip

SAN ANTONIO — The 2022 Conference USA West Division champion North Texas men's basketball team concludes the 2021-22 regular season this week with a pair of road games before they head to Frisco for the 2022 C-USA Men's Basketball Championship.
UNT (22-4, 15-1 C-USA) this week first travels to UTSA on Thursday to face the Roadrunners (9-20, 2-14 C-USA) at the Convocation Center. Thursday's game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network, which can be found on The Varsity Network App.
North Texas clinched the 2022 C-USA West Division title last Saturday at the Super Pit with a 56-49 win over Louisiana Tech. The win over the Bulldogs was the Mean Green's 14th straight win, which tied the program record for longest win streak. Along with its 14-game winning streak, UNT has won 20 of its last 21 games dating back to Thanksgiving Weekend. In addition to its 14-game winning streak, North Texas has won eight straight road games and is the only team in the country who is undefeated on the road this season.
"I think we enjoy playing on the road because we're close as a team," said senior Mardrez McBride. "We lock in on the road and focus. We are focused on one game at a time and getting better."
North Texas beat UTSA in Denton on Feb. 5, 69-45. They've beaten the Roadrunners in three of the last four meetings.
Abou Ousmane led all scorers in the Feb. 5 meeting with 17 points. Tylor Perry chipped in with 16 points.
After facing UTSA, the Mean Green conclude the regular season on Saturday at UTEP. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 2 p.m. CT.
With the regular season championship, North Texas earned a No. 1 seed in the 2022 C-USA Championship. UNT will play its first conference tournament game on Thursday March 10 from the Star in Frisco.
