DALLAS - For the fourth straight tournament, the Mean Green women's golf team has produced the Conference USA Golfer of the Week as senior Audrey Tan was given the award, the league announced on Wednesday, after a standout performance at the MountainView Collegiate in Arizona. It's Tan's second such honor in as many tournaments.
Tan's back-to-back nods come after Patricia Sinolungan was given the award after winning the Tulane Classic and Emilie Ricaud earned the honor three weeks ago after a stellar performance at the loaded ICON Invitational.
The win marks Tan's third such honor this season with the first coming back in the fall season, and the fifth of the defending C-USA champion's career.
"Audrey really stepped up this past weekend against an extremely solid field," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "I am very happy C-USA is recognizing her."
Tan, who hails from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tied for third at the event after shooting a 69-72-67-208 to finish at 8-under par - two shots back of the winner. This field was loaded with 10 top-50 teams, along with Nos. 51 and 52. It also featured 17 top-100 players, including Tan (97th). The only players to beat her were No. 40 (the winner) and No. 6. She tied with No. 93. She beat Nos. 50, 23, 39, 44, 82, 91, 53, 88, 28, 90, 96, 78, 38. She led the team to an eighth-place finish, beating three top-50 teams. She tied for third in the field with 14 birdies, including seven in the final round and tied for second in the field in Par 5 scoring at 6-under.
"Audrey wasn't feeing great before the final round and told me she wasn't going to make any excuses and just try her best," Akers said. "She went out and had seven birdies and carded a 67. She was knocking down pins, which was great to see."
Tan, who is now ranked 60th in the country after the showing in Arizona, leads the team after seven events this season with a 71.76 stroke average and has the low round of the season with a 66 at the season-opening Sam Golden Invitational. She has six rounds in the 60s this season and four top-5 finishes.

The Mean Green will return to action April 11-12, when they host The Bruzzy at Fort Worth's Waterchase Golf Club.
