
Tennis Set to Play in New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – UNT Tennis is headed to the pelican state for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday. They will face Tulane on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT and New Orleans on Sunday at noon.
The Mean Green struggled to find their footing against VCU on Saturday and is now 8-7 this season. Senior Lucie Devier is coming off a tenure as Conference-USA Player of the Week after defeating a ranked pair. She and partner Maria Ponomareva are now No. 78 in ITA rankings. Jasmine Adams, the current C-USA Player of the Week, played a dramatic singles match after falling in her first set but winning sets two and three bringing the final match score to 4-3.
"We have been playing and competing at a very high level and getting closer to putting the pieces together," head coach Sujay Lama said. "This team continues to focus on the growth and improvement, we are locked in on the process. We are super excited to be back on the road competing against two quality teams."
Tulane is 7-6 this season and is on a two-match winning streak. They most recently claimed victory in a double header on Wednesday including a 4-0 sweep of New Orleans. The Green Wave is led by Lahari Yelamanchili who is 6-1 on the season. She and doubles partner Charlotte Russel are also 6-1.
New Orleans is currently 8-6 this season with a most loss to Tulane in straight sets. Senior Lina Hohnhold boasts the team's best record at 8-1 in singles play and 8-2 in doubles play this season.
