JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The North Texas women's golf team shot the best round of the day on Tuesday in the final round of the UNF Collegiate at Jacksonville Golf and Country Club, as the Mean Green were the only squad to break par after shooting a season-low, 5-under 283 to claim third place in the event.
The Mean Green had two golfers finish in the top-10, as they were led by senior Audrey Tan's fifth-place finish after her 3-under showing (71-73-69) and Patricia Sinolungan's 1-over showing to put her in a tie for ninth. Sophomore Ellie Roth had a strong final round, shooting a 2-under 70 to finish tied for 23rd at 6-over par.
"We owned the final round today, which is something we pride ourselves in," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "To break par as a team is always the goal. We dug ourselves in a hole during Round 1, but we learn and move on. Audrey and Patty did a great job of leading us this week. We will do our best to adjust for desert golf and head to Arizona next week."
The 49th-ranked Mean Green will get back to action on March 18-20, at the MountainView Intercollegiate in Tucson, Arizona.
