DALLAS - UNT sophomore Shreya Pal was named to the Conference USA All-Academic First Team, while senior Audrey Tan earned second-team honors, the league announced on Friday.
First-team members must have at least a 3.9 GPA and have participated in at least 75% of the team's competition, while second-team honorees must have competed in at least 75% of the team's tournaments and have a minimum of a 3.75 GPA.
Pal posted a 4.0 GPA in Business and has played in five of her team's seven tournaments this year with a season stroke average of 76.73 and a season-best round of 70, as of the time the voting period ended. After The Bruzzy earlier this week, she has now competed in six events and lowered her average to 75.94. Pal was placed on the UNT President's List in Spring 2020 and Fall 2021.
Tan posted a 3.94 GPA in Finance, and the defending Conference USA champion has fired six rounds in the 60s this season with a team-best stroke average of 71.76, as of the time the voting period ended. After The Bruzzy earlier this week, she has now lowered her average to 71.46 with five top-5 showings and eight rounds in the 60s. She has been named the C-USA Golfer of the Week four times this season, including three straight for her performances in the team's last three events. Tan is a three-time recipient of the C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll.
"I am very proud of Shreya and Audrey for their achievements in the classroom," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "Our program stresses the fact that our golfers are student-athletes. I expect our players to achieve As and Bs in the classroom. Shreya and Audrey work hard to earn As. Sacrifices must be made for student-athletes to succeed both in the classroom and on the golf course. At the end of the day, those efforts will be rewarded after college."
