Tan Claims Final C-USA Weekly Honor
4/13/2022 12:00:00 PM | Women's Golf
DALLAS - For the fifth straight tournament, the Mean Green women's golf team has produced the Conference USA Golfer of the Week as senior Audrey Tan was given the award, the league announced on Wednesday, after a standout performance at The Bruzzy. It's Tan's third such honor in as many tournaments.
Tan's back-to-back-to-back nods come after Patricia Sinolungan was given the award after winning the Tulane Classic and Emilie Ricaud earned the honor a month ago after a stellar performance at the loaded ICON Invitational.
The win marks Tan's fourth such honor this season with the first coming back in the fall season, and the sixth of the defending C-USA champion's career.
"Audrey continues to impress and show that she is the best player in the conference," UNT head coach Michael Akers said. "Her work ethic has taken her far, but I also think her body control is exceptional. Audrey's ball flight is a little different than a few months ago but it doesn't matter as she tees it up and plays what she has that day. If she misses a green, the odds are she will get up and down. Our schedule is very demanding and she just beats the best players in the nation because she is one of the best players in the nation."
Audrey finished solo third at 8-under par in a loaded field that featured all the Big 12 teams.  She was one shot back of second and three shots back of the winner. She shot a 71-68-69-208 in tough wind conditions to bring her season stroke average down to 71.46, and she notched her fifth top-5 finish her last six events dating back to the last tournament of the fall season. There were several ranked individuals in the field: Nos. 26, 27, 38, 44, 59, 72, 73, 82, 84 and 93, and she beat all but Nos. 73 and 27. She led the Mean Green to a fifth-place finish in a field with 8 top-50 teams - scoring wins over No. 37 Iowa State, No. 49 Oklahoma and No. 21 Texas Tech. She finished tied for second in the field in Par 4 scoring and tied for third in total birdies (14).
Tan, who is now ranked 42nd in the country after the showing in Fort Worth, has eight rounds in the 60s this season and five top-5 finishes.

The Mean Green will return to action April 18-20, when they travel to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, for the Conference USA Championship at PGA National Resort & Spa.
