Tennis Beats Louisiana Tech in First Round

MURFEESBORO, Tennessee – UNT Tennis beat Louisiana Tech 4-1 in the first round of the Conference-USA Tournament. Lucie Devier clinched the doubles point with partner Maria Ponomareva and then clinched the match in singles play.

Doubles

Saki Oyama and Liisa Vehvilainen made quick work of their doubles match, 6-2.
Lucie Devier and Maria Ponomareva clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory.
Sophia Hummel and Jasmine Adams were behind 3-5 with the match left unfinished.

Singles

Ponomareva won her match 6-3, 6-2.
Vehvilainen fell 1-6 in set one but bounced back 6-4 in set two. The freshman from Finland won set three 6-2.
Adams tripped 4-6 in the first set but won set two 6-3. The forced third set was claimed by the Bulldogs 6-4.
Devier breezed through set one, 6-2 but lost 4-6 in set two. The senior narrowly picked up the third set 7-6 claiming the victory for the Mean Green.
