UNT Signs Experienced All-League Guard Eady

DENTON — The reigning nation's top scoring defense, North Texas, signed experienced Summit League All-Defensive Team transfer guard Tyree Eady on Monday.
The 6-foot-5 Wisconsin native comes to UNT from North Dakota State where he played in 122 career games and made 90 career starts for the Bison over four seasons. He has scored 1,051 career points and has grabbed 502 career rebounds. He helped lead NDSU to four straight Summit League title game appearances and earn two NCAA Tournament bids.
He was the top defender for the Bison who led the Summit League in scoring defense in 2021-22. Eady was named to the 2022 Summit League All-Defensive Team at the conclusion of the season.
Eady will join a UNT team that is the back-to-back-to-back Conference USA champions. North Texas is coming off a season where it held its opponents to an average of just 55.7 points per game, which ranked first in the nation and was best in C-USA history. They held opposing shooters to just 28.3 percent from deep that also ranked first in the nation. The Mean Green finished with a program-record 25 wins and earned its first ever trip to the National Invitation Tournament where they won their opening round game.
Eady played a major role in the 2021 Summit League Tournament as he averaged 14.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists per tournament game that year and led his NDSU squad to within four points of winning the championship but fell to an Oral Roberts squad that'd go on to reach the Sweet 16. Eady was named to the 2021 Summit League All-Tournament Team for his performance.
NDSU averaged over 20 wins per season while Eady was there. The Bison won the 2020 Summit League regular season crown with a 13-3 league record and Eady starting 14 of the 16 conference games. They reached four straight conference tournament title games and won the championship in 2019 and 2020 to earn automatic NCAA Tournament bids.
In the 2019 NCAA Tournament they beat North Carolina Central in the First Four round. Eady, then a redshirt freshman, scored seven points in the win on 3-of-3 shooting.
Along with his scoring ability Eady is also a terrific rebounding guard. Over the last two seasons combined he's averaged 5.3 rebounds per game and has had four double-digit rebounding performances including a pair of games where he grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds.

He earned his first all-academic selection this year after earning a bachelor's degree in exercise science with a 3.72 GPA and starting his pursuit of a master's degree in health, nutrition and exercise science with a 4.00 GPA.
