Burns Named To Biletnikoff Watch List

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - North Texas junior wide receiver Roderic Burns (Houston) has been named to the 2022 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation announced on Thursday.
The award is presented annually to the nation's best receiver, at any position, not just wide receiver. Semifinalists will be announced on Nov. 14, and three finalists will be announced on Nov. 22. The award will be presented as part of The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN on Dec. 8.
Burns went from walk-on to scholarship player last year after injuries derailed the Mean Green's wide receiver corps early last year, and he picked up the slack with 58 catches for 802 yards and four touchdowns - all team-highs. He also served as the team's primary punt returner.
The award, which was first handed out in 1994, is named for Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, who was a consensus All-America receiver at Florida State and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders. He caught 589 passes for 8,974 yards and 76 touchdowns in his 14-year NFL career from 1965 through 1978, and was the Most Valuable Player of Super Bowl XI.
