Davis Earns All-American Honorable Mention

DENTON - Senior linebacker KD Davis added another honor to his list of preseason accolades on Monday, as the Ennis (Texas) product was given honorable mention status by Pro Football Network.
Davis enters his final season with the Mean Green as one of the most decorated players in recent history. He has led the Mean Green in total tackles for the past three seasons - the first UNT player to accomplish that feat since Zach Orr (2011-13) - and had 121 stops in 2021. He had 18 tackles in a win over Rice last season, marking the most tackles for a UNT player since at least 2000. Last season, Davis earned first-team All-Conference USA honors to go with second-team All-Texas College honors by Dave Campbell's Texas Football. He enters the 2022 season as a fourth-team selection to the Phil Steele Preseason All-American team looking to become the first player in program history to lead the team in tackles in four straight seasons.
The PFN College Football All-Americans are presented with an inside look at who the network's team of national analysts, college football local evaluators, and NFL Draft scouts all think are the top players at each position across the country. Differing from several other All-American lists, the PFN All-American team takes into consideration not only what a player has accomplished to date, but looks forward based on the growth of the athlete's career.Â
Davis has garnered several other preseason honors this summer, including the watch lists for the Rotary Lombardi Award, Bednarik Award, Nagurski Trophy and Butkus Award. He was also chosen as the best linebacker in Texas by Dave Campbell's Texas Football and was named to the publication's All-Texas College First Team. He was named to the All-CUSA Preseason First Team by Athlon, Phil Steele and Lindy's and to the C-USA Preseason Watch List and the Shrine Bowl 1000.
