Mean Green will compete Friday in Texas A&M Invitational
DENTON, Texas – North Texas cross country will travel to Bryan-College Station to compete in the Texas A&M Invitational Friday at Watts Cross Country Course.
Â
"Heading into this week, I really want the focus to be on working together as a group," Mean Green coach Erik Stevens said. "Especially on the men's side, we have to have the mentality of moving as one. This will be the first opportunity to roll the full 8k distance, and I want to see execution of a plan. We had a really solid 10 days of training since we last were in uniform."
Â
The meet will kick off at 8 a.m. CT with the men's 8K. Competing for the Mean Green will be Victor Neiva, Mason Garner, Luke Canon, Cade McAndrew and Nick Rodriguez.
Â
The women's 5K will take place immediately after, at roughly 8:45 a.m. CT. North Texas will feature Tiblets Abreha, Amy Pritchard, Miranda Vreeland, Brenna Zerby, Tori Tauch, Shannon Cook and Kate Hilty.  Â
Â
"On the women's side, we're still figuring things out a bit," Stevens said. "I have a good feeling that we are close to taking the next step in the process. I am looking for strong leadership heading into race morning. I really want the ladies to approach this first 5k knowing that the work they are putting in will pay off now and several weeks from now."
Â
Competition for UNT includes host Texas A&M, Houston, Prairie View A&M, Rice (women), Texas A&M-International, Texas State and UTSA.
Â
"I'm excited to get a real solid opportunity to run on a great course with solid competition from some big programs and one from our conference," Stevens said.
Â
Live results from Bryan-College Station will be provided by Flash Results.
