DENTON — The North Texas women's soccer team hosts Florida Atlantic Sunday afternoon in an afternoon showdown between two of the top Conference USA women's soccer programs.
The Mean Green (5-3-1, 1-0-0) and Owls (4-3-2, 0-0-0) are scheduled to kickoff at 1 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
UNT and FAU once again were both picked to finish near the top of the league standings. Over the last six seasons the two programs have combined to win six league titles. Their rivalry extends into the conference tournament where they recently met in the finals of the 2017 and 2019 C-USA Tournament — North Texas won both matches.
The Mean Green are feeling good after a dominating 4-0 victory over Charlotte on Thursday to open conference play. UNT features the league's top offense that is also one of the best in the nation, averaging three goals per match.
UNT's defense will have its hands full, though, Sunday as FAU also features a couple of the league's top goal scoring threats, most notably fifth-year senior Gi Krstec who is a two-time first-team all-conference honoree.
North Texas leads the all-time series history against Florida Atlantic, 12-4-0, and is a perfect 7-0-0 at home versus the Owls.
