
Volleyball Set for Matchup with FIU

MIAMI – UNT volleyball will play its second Conference USA match of the weekend on Sunday against FIU at noon CT on CUSA.tv.
The Sunshine State showdown versus the Panthers (3-11) will be the final C-USA meeting between the two programs before UNT (7-9) moves to the American Athletic Conference next season. North Texas is 6-0 against FIU since 2014 with a 10-11 all-time record. The last meeting was a five-set Mean Green victory on November 1, 2019, in Miami.
North Texas won its first conference match of the season with a sweep of FAU on Friday. The team held its opponent to a .085 hitting percentage on 106 attacks, the lowest mark for UNT in a C-USA match since October 13, 2019, against Southern Miss.
Treyaunna Rush posted 11 kills for a 10th consecutive match with double-digit finishes and 13th overall. Sh'Diamond Holly collected six kills on nine attacks to push her nationally ranked hitting percentage up to .394 on the season. Aleeyah Galdeira enters Sunday's match needing 15 digs to pass Valerie Valerian for sixth on the UNT career digs list at 1,123.
FIU also began its conference season on Friday, falling to UTEP in five sets. The Panthers are led by libero Katie Turner, tallying 217 digs, 39 assists and 16 aces with Emily Meyer adding a team-high 143 kills. Athina Dimitriadis works as middle blocker accumulating 120 kills and 46 total blocks on the season.
