Volleyball Sweeps Two Matches Against Regional Rivals

ARLINGTON, Texas – North Texas volleyball swept a doubleheader on Saturday beating Texas A&M-Commerce 3-0 (25-19, 26-24, 25-21) and UT Arlington 3-0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-22) at College Park Center.
The pair of wins on Saturday marks the first sweep of a doubleheader since September 14, 2019 when UNT defeated ACU and Prairie View A&M in Abilene. Both of those matches also ended with 3-0 scorelines.
In the first match the Mean Green (3-4) were led by Aryn Johnson who recorded 12 kills and two blocks against the Lions (0-6). Senior transfer Taylor Litteken made her UNT debut, featuring in the starting lineup. She logged seven kills along with a pair of service aces and two blocks. Andrea Owens also had seven kills and two blocks in her first start of the season.
Against UTA (2-4) in the nightcap, Treyaunna Rush led the team with 14 kills adding three blocks. Johnson recorded double-digit kills (10) for the fifth consecutive match with Litteken adding six kills and two blocks.
Libero Aleeyah Galdeira collected 37 digs and six assists total in the two matches. Ceci Harness and Lauren Phillips had double-digit assists in both matches of the doubleheader. Sh'Diamond Holly contributed four blocks to total 17 in the three-match tournament.
