
Women’s Basketball Heads to Hattiesburg for Thanksgiving Classic

DENTON, Texas – The UNT women's basketball team will travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for two games at the Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic.
The Mean Green's first opponent will be Samford on Friday at 1 p.m. CT, followed by an 8 a.m. contest against North Dakota on Saturday.
North Texas is 4-1 on the season nearing the end of a five-game road trip. The Mean Greens started the stretch on Nov. 12 against Texas A&M and will conclude it this weekend before their next home game against Pepperdine on Dec. 1.

• North Texas will take on Samford in the first game of The Lady Eagle Thanksgiving Classic for both teams.
• First-year head coach Jason Burton joins North Texas after a successful nine-year stint at Texas A&M-Commerce where he became the winningest coach in program history.

SCOUTING SAMFORD
• Samford is led by head coach Carley Kuhns who is in her fifth season. The Bulldogs went 13-17 last season and have compiled a 62-58 record overall under Kuhns.
• The Bulldogs are 4-0 on the season coming off of a victory over Alabama State
• Samford has three players averaging double-digit points through four games, led by Masyn Marchbanks at 12.5 points per game.

• North Texas leads the country in free throw attempts per game (34.6) and free throws made per game (24.0)
• Through its first five games, UNT has shot 173 free throws and converted 120 (69.4%) of them.
• UNT's free throws made and free throws attempted in both of its first two games this season are tied for the two highest single game totals for a team in makes and in the top three for attempts.
• DesiRay Kernal has made it a habit of getting to the free throw line as she leads the nation in free throws made and is third in free throws attempted (38-43).
