TUPELO, Mississippi — The UNT men's basketball team fell 72-54 to Mississippi State Sunday afternoon in Tupelo, Mississippi.
The Mean Green (5-5) led by as much as 11 points in the first half but turnovers and fouls allowed MSU to get back into the game and take the lead.
North Texas on Sunday was led by Rubin Jones who scored a career-high 20 points. However, Jones' career night could not overcome the Bulldogs' (9-2) 22 points off turnovers and the foul trouble North Texas was in as they committed a season-high 21 fouls.
After Jones, sophomore Jason Edwards added 11 points off the bench for UNT.
"Give credit to Mississippi State," Jones said. "They're a great team and showed it today, especially in the second half. We'll regroup, watch film and get better."
UNT returns to action on Dec. 23 as they host UTA at 1 p.m. CT at the Super Pit.
