
Maryland Takes Down Women’s Tennis 4-1, Snaps UNT’s Win Streak

Adams and Morais take down #53 ranked team in Division I
LYNCHBURG, Va. (Feb. 11, 2023) – Olivia Malm picked up a win in singles play and Jasmine Adams and Matilde Morais took down a ranked opponent at No. 1 doubles, but UNT fell 4-1 Saturday against Maryland to snap their five-match win streak.
Playing at line three, Malm had a strong performance with a 6-2, 6-3 victory in straight sets to improve to 6-1 individually this season. She became just the second player to defeat Maryland's Minorka Miranda this season.
In doubles play, Adams and Morais defeated the #53 team in Division I in Miranda and Marta Perez Mur 6-1 at line one. After dropping their first doubles match of the season, Adams and Morais have now won five straight doubles matchups at line one.
The Terrapins were able to take the doubles point, however, winning line two 6-2 and line three 6-4 to take a 1-0 team lead.
In singles play, Maryland was able to grab straight set wins at lines one, five and six to earn the four points necessary to pick up the team win.
At line two, Morais and Perez Mur split the first two sets 6-4 and 7-5 but were unable to finish the match before the four points were reached.
Line four singles faced a similar fate as Kexuan Zhou and Kallista Lou split the first two sets 6-4, 6-3 before the match was left unfinished.
