Women's Basketball Welcomes UTEP to Super Pit Looking to Sweep Season Series

DENTON, Texas (Feb. 17, 2023) - The four-game homestand for UNT continues Saturday night when they take on UTEP inside the Super Pit looking to snap a three-game losing skid and knock off the Miners for the second time this season.

It will be the 21st all-time meeting between UNT and UTEP in a series that dates back to the 1980-81 season. The Miners lead the all-time series 11-9 and the two teams have split the season series every year since the 2018-19 season.

UTEP heads into the contest at 17-7 overall and 10-5 in conference play, currently sitting in third place in the league standings.

The Miners have won four of their last five games after dropping the contest against UNT earlier this season, including handing then No. 21 Middle Tennessee its first conference loss of the year.

Quick Hitters

Senior Quincy Noble leads UNT offensively with 16.7 points per game this season, a figure that is third Conference USA.
Noble has scored in double figures 21 times this season for North Texas and ranks ninth in program history with 1,207 points in her career at UNT. She also leads C-USA in field goal attempts while sitting in the top six in minutes (4th), FG percentage (6th) and points (3rd).
Sophomores Kendall McGruder and Aniyah Johnson have come on strong since the start of C-USA play. Both are averaging double figures in conference-only games with McGruder scoring 12.1 points per game and Johnson averaging 10.3 ppg.
Ereauna Hardaway ranks seventh in C-USA with a 1.5 assist-to-turnover ratio on the year. The freshman leads the Mean Green with 3.3 APG.
In C-USA matchups, UNT has two of the top 11 assist leaders in the league as Hardaway ranks 10th and McGruder sits in 11th in the conference in assists per game.
Tommisha Lampkin sits fifth in the league with 1.2 blocks per game while Johnson is eighth at 1.1 BPG.
In total, the Mean Green rank third in the conference with 3.4 blocks per game as a team.
With 1,207 career points at UNT, Noble is now alone in ninth place all-time in scoring in program history. She needs just 33 points to pass J'Lynne Johnston (1,239 points) for eighth place.
In five revenge game opportunities this season, UNT holds a 3-2 record with wins over FIU, FAU and Rice.
The Mean Green are 5-14 this season when losing or tying the team rebounding battle and are 4-2 when outrebounding their opponents.

UNT and UTEP have had a tightly contested series throughout the years, as the Miners hold a slight 11-9 edge all-time.
Neither team has won more than three straight contests in the series and the two teams have split the season series every season dating back to 2018-19.
Head coach Jalie Mitchell is 6-6 all-time against UTEP at UNT and holds a 3-2 record against the Miners in Denton.

The matchup, originally scheduled for 3:30 p.m., will now be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday night.
Saturday will be Mental Health Awareness night. There will be an employee of the on-campus clinic tabling at Gate D to provide resources.
