AKERS SAYS: "The field at UH is extremely strong and we are excited for the opportunity to improve our national ranking," head coach Michael Akers said. "I was very pleased with some of the wins we picked up down in Florida a few weeks ago. The Golf Club of Houston is a course that we are familiar with and have seen some success. I am glad we played a match down there in January. We played very well so I hope we do that again on Monday and Tuesday."
MOVING UP: North Texas has made significant strides since head coach Michael Akers took over seven years ago. The Mean Green were ranked No. 201 following the 2015-16 season, and since Akers arrived in Denton, UNT has soared more than 150 spots from that time. The Mean Green are now consistently ranked in the top 50 nationally.

THE CHEVRON CHAMPIONSHIP:Â The Chevron Championship, the first LPGA Tour Major of the season, will take place at The Club at Carlton Woods for the first time on April 20-23. To further Chevron's commitment of providing access and opportunity for female collegiate golfers, the individual champion of the ICON Invitational will receive an invitation to play in The Chevron Championship Official Pro-Am on April 18.
UP NEXT: The Mean Green will travel to Tucson, Arizona, for the MountainView Collegiate, which has become a staple on their annual schedule, on March 17-19.
Â
NEW FACILITY: The Mean Green golf programs are thrilled to have the new Bruzzy's UNT Golf Practice Facility, which is a $3 million on-campus facility that features state-of-the-art technology, such as TrackMan, swing catalysts, indoor hitting bays, a short-game area and a PuttView indoor putting green.
