Tulane Snaps No. 69 Women’s Tennis’ Home Win Streak

UNT unable to overcome forfeits having just five healthy players
DENTON, Texas (March 10, 2023) – Playing with just five healthy players in the match and just four in singles play, No. 69 UNT fell 4-0 to Tulane Friday at the Waranch Tennis Complex.
The loss snaps a seven-match home winning streak for the Mean Green, which was the longest for a UNT team since 2011-12.
In doubles play, the Mean Green were forced to forfeit line three and fell to a 1-0 deficit for the doubles point. The combination of Gloria Alogo Piqueras and Kexuan Zhou were then able to knot the score at 1-1 with a strong 6-2 victory at line two.
It was not enough, however, as Tulane took home a 6-2 win of their own on line one to clinch the doubles point.
UNT then was forced to forfeit lines five and six in singles play as well to fall behind 3-0 in the match.
Tulane then needed just one singles victory to clinch the team win. At line two, Adelaide Lavery was able to grab a 6-4, 6-0 win in straight sets to give the Green Wave a 4-0 sweep.
The loss drops UNT to 9-5 overall and 7-1 at home this season.
