Women’s Tennis Closes Out Regular Season with Contests Against UTA and Houston

Mean Green take on UTA at home Wednesday before traveling to Houston Friday
DENTON, Texas (April 11, 2023) – Coming off a strong win on Sunday against UTRGV, UNT will return to action for its final two regular season contests on Wednesday and Friday this week.
The Mean Green welcome UT Arlington to the Waranch Tennis Complex Wednesday afternoon for the regular season home finale before traveling to South on Friday to take on Houston. UNT takes on UTA at 4:00 PM Wednesday and Houston at 11:00 AM Friday.
Last Sunday, North Texas snapped a six-match losing streak as they took down UTRGV 6-1 to improve to 10-9 overall and 8-1 at home this season. It was the first time the Mean Green fielded a full lineup since Feb. 26.
The final two matches of the regular season will serve as a primer for the C-USA Tournament which will be held in Denton April 20-23.
Prior to Wednesday's match, UNT will honor its lone senior Kexuan Zhou who will be playing in her final regular season home contest with the Mean Green. Zhou has been stellar this season, sitting second on the team with a 10-2 record in singles play. An asset in various spots in the lineup, Zhou has recorded a win at lines two, three, four five and six this season.
UNT has been led all season by Matilde Morais who sits at 11-2 overall in singles play and 13-4 in doubles action. Morais has won back-to-back matches at line one singles and has played exclusively at line one doubles all season.

- UTA heads into the matchup with an impressive 14-3 overall record this season, sitting at 6-1 in WAC play.
- The Mavericks and Mean Green have four common opponents this season in Dallas Baptist, Arkansas State, UTSA and UTRGV this season. UTA holds a 4-0 record in those contests while UNT is 3-1.
- Houston, meanwhile, is 11-8 overall this season and come into the contest having dropped each of their last three matches.
- The Cougars share six common opponents with UNT. UH is 2-4 in those matchups while the Mean Green are 3-3.
- Free pizza and "Lama"nade will be provided for everyone in attendance at Wednesday afternoon's matchup against UTA.
- Admission to all home women's tennis matches are free to the public.
