
Women’s Tennis Back in Action Sunday Against UTRGV

Mean Green return to the court for first time since March 18
DENTON, Texas (April 7, 2023) – For the first time since March 18 and the first time at home since March 10, the UNT women's tennis team will return to action Sunday when they take on UT-Rio Grande Valley at 1:00 p.m. at Waranch Tennis Complex.
Battling through injuries throughout the season, the Mean Green will be back with a full six-player lineup Sunday afternoon as they look to close the regular season strong and head into the C-USA Tournament.
UNT will be looking to snap a six-match losing streak and improve on their 7-1 record at the Ranch this season. The Mean Green started the season 9-3 overall before losing four of their eight total players due to injury.
Matilde Morais continues to lead UNT in singles victories this season as she has posted a 10-2 record overall with nine victories at line two this season. She and Jasmine Adams lead the doubles tandems for the Mean Green with an impressive 8-2 record at line one doubles this season.
Kexuan Zhou is just behind Morais with a 9-2 record in singles play. Zhou has been extremely versatile this season, posting wins at lines two, four, five and six on the year.
Jasmine Adams and Olivia Malm are tied for third on the team in singles wins with eight apiece.
UTRGV comes into the contest with an impressive 10-6 overall record this season and a 5-1 mark in the WAC.
The lone common opponent for the Vaqueros with UNT is Lamar who they fell to 6-1 in early February. The Mean Green took down the Cardinals 6-1 at home in late January.
The Mean Green have three matches left Sunday, Wednesday (UTA) and Friday (at Houston) this week before the C-USA Tournament is set to begin in Denton on Thursday, April 20.
