Volleyball Prepares for Home Opener on Tuesday

DENTON, Texas – Head coach Kristee Porter leads UNT volleyball into its home opener on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Texas Southern at the North Texas Volleyball Center. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
The Mean Green (2-1) completed a winning weekend at the Buffs Invitational in Boulder, Colorado. North Texas defeated UNLV in a three-set sweep of the 2022 Mountain West regular season champions on Saturday.
Treyaunna Rush posted double-digit kills in each of UNT's initial three matches. She leads the team with 40 kills on 73 attacks with a .356 hitting percentage. She added five blocks and four digs.
Rush and Aryn Johnson were named all-tournament team selections after the pair tallied a combined 73 kills in three matches.
The Mean Green hold a 4-0 record versus the Tigers with each match resulting in three-set sweeps. Most recently, UNT beat Texas Southern on September 6, 2022, at the North Texas Volleyball Center. Rush led UNT with 10 kills while Sh'Diamond Holly tallied seven kills on nine attacks (.778 hitting percentage) with five blocks.
